War: Warrior

Hello dear friends and it's a bit murky outside but I'm sure it shall improve. As always though let's share the love, kudos and gratitude to Anna, Jo, Shilpa and Russell for stopping by on my previous post with the loves, likes, comments, messages and shares.

I call thee to arms.

For thou art a warrior

who wields incense.

Today's post may cause a dash of controversy. I often hear the word light warrior and I cannot help but think in that combination that there is more than a hint of hypocrisy. When we think of war, you will generate warriors, fighters and in times of peace you would then look for your peacemakers, counsellors, advisors and so forth.

I'm sure you've seen the ubiquitous flow of words proclaiming light warriors to stand up and fight the cause (whatever it may be) or "You own this (often followed by an invective)" , "Stand in your power," etc, etc. Does this all not sound rather aggressive, primal and combustible. It's almost as if there's some strange sort of merging of Right wing aggression marrying up into a quirky spiritual belief into protesting for what they believe is correct and no room for any dissent.

I recall back in the 80's when we had the rise of Thatcherism and the protests of what were perceived as the loony left. (The media do like a label). The warriors then would protest and actually try to facilitate a change even though they were never going to win, but I understood what they were fighting for. It was a political struggle and in that instance I saw why they tried to protest and yes my beliefs are of a socialist background.

Yet now it seems fashionable to put light with warrior. This for me is not the time to imagine one as some sort of Jedi Warrior which I fancy is where the imagery comes from. By all means, stand by your convictions but the term warrior inspires conflict, spoiling for a fight.

I witnessed Light Warrior being used in excess during the height of the Covid outbreak and it bordered on hostile militancy from many who purported to be gentle spiritual souls. It surprised me intensely to see how this all came to be and many of the warriors turned into hectoring bullies. Surely we are better than that?

A better term perhaps would be Avatar, Paragon, Seeker or just a light being. There are energies in those words and they are powerful. When I hear warrior, I imagine a call to arms, if I hear Seeker, I imagine a gentle search. These days, when the term light warrior appears I roll my eyes and move onto the next topic. My fighting days are done (I used to train in karate and did enjoy a battle) and I have no interest now in warrior talk or such tomfoolery. Instead, let's embark on a more serene path to elicit the change that might just give us all a chance.

Things to be grateful for

  1. A good chillout day yesterday

  2. Another solid session of learning German

  3. Watching the ladies England team even if it was 0-0
