The best gifts are not bought

I think the sky outside is greyer than ever by the looks of things. Anyhoo, greetings all and may you have a day of inspiration. First up though let's send out the love and kudos to Anna, Shilpa, Jo, Dan, Mary, Pinnie (Anna) and Carina (Anna) for stopping by on my post yesterday. Thank you Anna for sharing and allowing your friends to see my musings.

Today my attention is taken back to the fair I attended on Sunday and this time the focus is not on the splendid food but rather a very touching moment for me. A lady came in for a reading and her daughter who is autistic sat in and doodled away on her drawing pad. Both were lovely people and right at the end as they were leaving her daughter handed me a beautiful gift of a drawing of the accoutrements of the room in wonderful detail.

I was so grateful and astonished at her talent and I shall certainly treasure this wonderful gift. I know Anna and Jo both saw the drawing and it will hold pride of place in the healing room. This leads me to the subject that all those gifts that we are obliged to purchase whether it's birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries, etc do not have to happen. Why not instead use minds in a creative way, write a few words, draw, paint, a kind word or even the simple gift of being there for someone will be far more memorable than a gift set or whatever we're obliged to buy. Let's change the narrative eh?

With many of us looking to adapt our spending habits such a novel way of thinking could really make a difference. Let's play the nice card for a change as opposed to the expensive one and shy away from the stress and pressure that these events can lead to, especially in the current climate. Bye bye materialism and hello a bit of thought and caring is in order methinks.

There we are for today and remember everyone, keep reading :)
