Greetings all and it looks like being another grey day out there. Compare that to infernal heat and I'll take the cooler vibe thank you. Right, let's get to it then and send love and kudos to Anna, Jo, Ryder-Walker (Twitter) and Vanessa for stopping on by yesterday to ponder my musings about psychotic cookies!
Well let's mull over the title of today's offering. For a while now I've had an issue with the printer which seemed to defy the protocols of good behaviour. Said beastie is connected to the network and yet when it communicates with HP it says, nope, not connected to the internet. Now, this to me didn't make any sense at all for the network is most certainly attached to the internet without any issue. Ergo, why is this errant printer being rather naughty.
So yesterday I sought to solve the riddle. I got up HP virtual assistant which is a little chat routine and snapped in the requisite details. Alas, this garnered no reward and offered the option of feedback. I hoped this would take me to the option of communicating with a human but no, it was merely a chance to offer a review. Ok, let's scroll around the site looking for some way of communicating with some entity that wasn't made of silicon. Aha, I found one but then it wanted me to download some app called Lens live or some such thing.
I refrained from that course of action, traipsed back to the printer, pressed buttons here and (there were no sparks or bangs...well only in my diminishing good mood) got nowhere fast. Should I hit the factory reset? I thought back to the initial advice about moving the printer closer to the router and after initially dismissing the idea as nonsense, duly obliged. Imagine my astonishment when the printer synced properly to the network and all is well in the world once again.
So, what's the message here? Well, to me it's a knock to our old friend hubris who thinks he knows best. Listen to the instructions and try the obvious, sometimes it really is that simple, oh and remind hubris he knows nothing. Until next I type.
