Oh to be spiritual

Greetings all and another day of searing temperatures await us. Remember everyone, be sensible out there and stay in the shade, drink plenty of water and take it easy as best you can. It all calms down on Wednesday where more typical British weather returns. Anyway, let's send out some love and gratitude to Marion, Anna, Daniel, Shilpa, Mike, Mary and Sarah for liking, loving, sharing and commenting on my latest post.

What comes to my mind today is the realm of spirituality and what it means. Now this no doubt is a question of some gravitas and yet I'm a firm believer in keeping it simple when possible. So in all simplicity for me being spiritual equates to being nice. Let's put up an example, there's someone laying in the road in some distress, being nice is to help that person to their feet and calling for aid if necessary whilst being horrid is to say, get out of my way, you're stopping me from getting to my next appointment. I will let you decide which is the spiritual path.

Now of course there are varying degrees of being spiritual. Eating the right food, regular meditation practice, fitness, learning are certainly good aims but we can't always do that. Sometimes the simple practice of donating a smile, compliment, pleasant message or act of gratitude is a darn fine thing to do. Finding your own path to your own happiness is half the fun of getting there.

I saw a lovely post from Marion yesterday extolling the virtues of not being able to please everyone and not being everyone's cup of tea. As much as we can strive to do so it's often not the case. And hey, you will irritate people. You will make some calls that might make you unpopular, make mistakes on your part but it's all ok. Quite often trying to do the right thing can attract levels of animus towards you and cause you sadness. As long as you're not deliberately looking to hurt someone have a bit of compassion for yourself and those who send you those bad vibes. Deep down, each and every one of us comes from the same source of universal love and yep, that includes those horrid people out there.

This is the hard part. When you send those barbed thoughts and actions to those who may well deserve it you're actually sending them to yourself. How so? Like I said before, we are all part of the same divine source. It's not easy I'll grant you. If someone aims a punch at you, you may well wish to engage. I'm not saying stand there and get hit, more a case of block, counter and get out of there. Raise our energy, learn the art of forgiveness (that includes yourself too) and forget. Now some may say, hold on, I'll forgive but never forget. It's a path available but if you can forget too, wow, that's a really powerful thing you can do for yourself as you cut those ties. Not all of us can do that of course. And finally above all, most important, just be nice.

Well there we are, today's errant musings from your raconteur today and feel free to agree or discount. Until next I type...keep reading.
