Greetings all and first up thank you to Anna, Mike, Jo, Tracy, Marion, Sarah, Vanessa, Sandy and anyone else I should have inadvertently missed. Having you all stop by and expressing your thoughts, likes, loves, shares and reads makes it all worthwhile and yesterdays figures broke into double figures for the first time in quite a while. So double thank you.
As for today, well it has been one for the furnace has it not and it's certainly good for the soul but not for those unfortunates who suffer in the heat or from hay fever. So whilst us sun lovers do appreciate it do spare a thought for those who would much rather have it a few degrees cooler.

Whilst its hot it's a task to muster the energy to do very much but still managed to craft together a mini story and edit a couple of chapters from my old Shadowfruit novel. There's 27 chapters in all and comes in at 64500 words and will no doubt probably fall down a bit more by the time I've finished. I know some of the gory bits will have to be toned down significantly as it will be toned down from graphic horror to a dark adventure tale.
You fancy a snippet. Very well, here's a paragraph or two from chapter 2...
Martin's mother scaled the stairs. She opened the children's bedroom. She stared in disbelief at the sight of her dead mother sitting at the foot of Martin's bed. She tried to speak. No words came. A silent trail of tears eroded her left cheek. The grey haired lady reached for Martin. His small hand nestled within her misty hand. “Thanks, Lady Nel. Are you going to tell me about Humpty Dumpty again?” “Martin, it's late. Your Mum wouldn't be happy if you were up all night, would she?”
Her grandson curled his lip in disappointment.
“Please? Just once more?” he pleaded. Daniel mumbled in repose on the far side of the room. “Shh, off to sleep with you,” ordered his Grandmother.
