Greetings all and first up as always let me thank the following lovely people. Anna, Shilpa, Tracy and all you wonderful souls who've stopped by and had a read. You're all super star rock stars and long may you reign.
As I type this I've just knocked up 600 words or so on my burgeoning vampire tale, it's now about 2400 words or so and the limit is 6k. It's a story which has suddenly gone in a strange direction and that's what I love. Nothing worse than a tedious trudge through the ionosphere of turgid expectation. I'm hoping this effort will elicit a favourable response from the publishers when I submit it. No guarantees of course but we shall see what occurs.
Today, I brought an old book out of retirement. It's a great tome for writers who wish to expand upon what they do and it's by Stephen King. No, it's not the Shining, The Stand or even Cujo for that matter. The book in question is the rather splendid on writing where he discusses his near fatal accident and the tips he uses for everyday writing. Yep. Everyday. No days off. If a writer wishes to write then there is one course of action, no others. You guessed it. Write! No faffing around, just get words onto screen and type. It's what we do and everything else is procrastination. Well, I guess we ought not to include food, drink, sleep but you get my drift.
My strategy is quite simple really. Just 20 minute sprints for each piece of writing that I'm likely to do in a day. You can achieve quite a lot in 20 minutes. For me it's usually around 600 words or so depending on how I'm flowing and the more you scribe the more the output. I've been bumbling along on the writing front for a while now so it's quite nice to see some real progress this week. Of course, on top of that there's the editing that needs to be done. It's not just a case of dumping a load of words and then sending out there. You won't get very far. Nope, next stage is going over it and finding those errors and areas where you need to chop, change, correct and add a bit of sparkly stuff if required (not too much though). Then you submit and here's a thing. You still might not get very far!
On another note I will be at the centre this weekend offering my services of Reiki and readings and what a joy that is. To connect with that energy is magical and I wish everyone could experience this. One day but until then let all of us give out the right energy to those who are willing to accept.
Until next I type, adieu and keep reading.
