Hello again Igor

Writer's picture: Gary HewittGary Hewitt

Greetings all and it's a splendid day out there is it not? As always let's kick things off with an expression of gratitude to the following superstars Anna, Marion, Shilpa, Jo, Sarah and Vanessa. Huge love to all of you and kudos for taking the time to stop by and comment, like, love and share of course.

I had a good productive day on the writing front yesterday, the first 1000 words of Ken She Mu (a fantasy novel I'm looking into) has been passed, a bit more touching up of a short story and of course the blog post. There's lots of little things on the go and I'm looking to advance on quite a few fronts as opposed to just one. Some may say oh, concentrate on just one and I get that but I have a Gemini mind which is somewhat capricious and needs to be kept busy with a multitude of ideas or it'll get sleepy and start to procrastinate.

Now writing exercises the mind, the spiritual stuff for the spirit but the body. Well, I've been doing Qi Gong and recently my weight is down to the 11 stone 7 area which is pretty darn good. Just a few months ago I was ballooning at 12 stone 9 or 10 which some may say isn't particularly heavy. However, my issue is that it always conglomerates around the belly and that really is quite dangerous, especially as I have a fatty liver and will put me at risk of sclerosis or more lethal conditions. Ergo, I've taken action with changes to diet and health.

Yet we should not keep still. This is not the time to say, hey great, job done now relax. No the time is now to reconnect with a chap on YouTube called Igor Voitenko. I did his programme a year or two ago and it definitely helped but due to my rather corpulent structure I did struggle. Now I'm leaner and fitter I'm ready to go again. I will adapt his programme to suit me and I'm not interested in getting ripped, building muscle mass or any of that old toot but certainly would be nice to get some of my old strength back.

If I was to go back ten years you'd see me training at karate about five times a week and on Saturdays we'd have a monster session which could be an hour kata, an hour sparring/fighting(believe you me this is knackering), hour circuit training and then for good measure a 4 to 5 mile to finish. It was a challenge and yet I absolutely loved it.

These days you won't see me running as it batters those joints and they click enough as it is when I go upstairs or leaping around like some demented salmon. However a nice wander in the countryside is certainly a good replacement. The upshot of all this is to start to chisel away at the body to re-ignite that old power. It will for sure help me with my healing too as having a modicum of fitness will synergise well with Reiki and anything else I care to bring forward. So, Igor, my old friend I wish to re-enrol with you once again and let's get busy again. Osss (that's a term from my old karate days in case you're wondering)...
