Greetings all and I do hope all is fine with everyone. The first thing I wish to do though is to spread some love and gratitude to Marion, Shilpa, Mary, Anna, Daniel and Sarah for reading, commenting and sharing my previous post.
Now, let's state the obvious but it does feel like we are sitting on the surface of the Sun right now doesn't it? Of course that's not true as we'd be incinerated long before we experienced such an eventuality but nevertheless the heat is certainly rising. When circumstances like this come to pass you'd like to think that some form of common sense will prevail yet it never seems to be the case.

Here's a thing. The world will not end if everyone just shut down for a day or two. Yes, it'd be inconvenient, there's no doubt about that but we would be safe. That order you placed with Amazon could come on Wednesday instead of Monday, the bin collections can be rearranged, the children can spend an extra day playing around and hell, you can all take a day or two off. No doubt leaders of industry will grouse about lost revenue and productivity. Let's just think about productivity. It's an axiom that targets won't be reached when employees are dehydrating and generally rushing around in unbearable heat.
Are we to hark back to the days of the ancients where overseers would bear the whip to ensure the daily quota is met or can't we just stall for a day or two. Can't working times be re-arranged to work a bit earlier in the morning or in the evening if it's so vital that work gets done? Let us walk away from the odious realm of KPIs and targets. I don't subscribe to that, I believe in people doing their best at work and working with their employers as opposed to working for them. Alas, not many will adapt that point of view.
So all of us, let's spare a thought for those forced to work in the midday sun, those who are stuck in stuffy warehouses, delivery vans, sweltering offices and any other sweaty hotspots, particularly on Monday and Tuesday. Do the right thing employers and take care of your staff. In the long term it will do your company the world of good.
On that note I shall desist from typing any more and wish you all a beautiful day. Remember everyone...keep reading.
