Editing and elves

Greetings all, another grey morning and no surprise there then. Well, let's crack on and say a cheery thank you to Anna, Shilpa, Jo and Vanessa for stopping by and liking, loving and commenting upon my latest post. Much kudos, love and admiration to each one of you.

I watched the first instalments of The Rings of Power yesterday and it certainly provided entertainment for a couple of hours. They've certainly taken a few liberties with the whole Tolkeinverse but it will keep me amused for a few weeks. I will reserve judgement as to whether it hits all the buttons as I do feel you need to see the whole tale but we shall see. Next week sees Cobra Kai come out too and I do love a karate tale or two as well.

However, we now turn my attention to Shadowfruit which is nearing the end of it's next edit. I believe I have about 60 odd pages to go and I hope I'm onto something good as I did find myself getting quite engrossed in the story as I was reading through it. It's not a chore by a long shot and tweaking a few things here and there and toning down a few of the more extreme elements will bring that bit of polish too. After the current run, there will be what I call the final edit to perform.

I know there's still a few bits of "telling" to address, especially in the earlier chapters and of course picking up those little pieces of shabbiness. After that, well, my first impulse is to attempt the hard road of a traditional publisher. It will be a long haul but whilst the self publishing route is a path many take there does seem to be a lot of hit and miss with that and I'm not going to fork out xxx for books for me to embark on some sales campaign. I'm not a salesman by any stretch and I'd rather invest my time in my next creative endeavour. Of course I'll work with a publisher for any promo work but we'll cross that bridge when we get there. There's a hell of a lot of variables to ponder first.

Anna has got my latest few chapters to look at and no doubt she'll find a few bits and pieces to look into as well as hopefully being put off by dabbling with ouija boards! Take it from me, that's an area in life I will not be exploring in any of the spiritual work I do lol. As for my next venture, well, Anna and Jo got to listen to my Get Sparked effort on Thursday and there's a couple of other irons in the fire. Once I get Shadowfruit through the final edit I'll then turn my attention back on Parlour People, my little analysis of the whole witchy phenomena. The question is do I make it scary and sinister or a bit more light hearted. What's your thoughts?

Ah yes, I got a rejection from an old short story I recycled too. Now some may think oh what a pity but for me this is a cause for celebration. Why, I hear you ask? Simple, I get to rework it, chuck some more magic dust over it and look to make it better. There's also another site I'm looking into where you buy into the whole world that they've made in a creative angle. It'll be fun as the words fly onto screen.

I will cease for now, enjoy your day in whatever way is right for you and catch you soon. Remember, keep reading.
