Dogma days

Greetings all and first up let me thank Shilpa, Anna and Jo for stopping by on my latest blog post and being kind enough to like, love and share away. As always, it's really appreciated and glad those words of mine give you plenty to think about.

Well last night's group was really nice. A few of us are feeling a bit run down and a message for us all is to do take the time to try and get some time for yourself. Life can certainly get in the way and pull the cord from our own inner battery if we're not careful. It's totally right to do all that we can but do it in a way that's realistic and achievable. I know from back in my days of long working days just how the wick can burn away and leave us devoid of energy.

However, the energy from yesterday evening was fabulous. We indulged in some splendid readings, some healings and even dabbled with the runes at the end. It's sometimes really nice to have a small group where we can build on some very ebullient energy to take things forward.

My thoughts now turn to today's little wander round the universe and it was based on the creation, life and death of a star. There were supernovas galore, stars so much bigger than our sun, white dwarfs, neutron stars, black holes and brown dwarfs. Notice I said dwarfs as opposed to dwarves as that appears to be the correct term in this instance. The most striking fact that came to mind was about neutron stars which are stripped down stars which are really tiny compared to what they were. However, it's the mass of them which truly blows the mind. Apparently, just one teaspoon of that matter weighs several billion tons. It's quite a struggle to get your head round that one!

The title of today's piece makes me think of the strange rules that often come along with healing practices. In regards to Reiki, back in the old days there was no associations, beady eyed puritans who instilled certain procedures for you to follow or countless forms to fill in either. In a nutshell, you worked with the energy, and that was it. Now, Mr Usui could be a challenging taskmaster but that was it.

Yet of course these days we are expected to do certain routines. The attunement process for Reiki can look quite daunting for those who see it for the first time. However, it may come as a shock, but there were no attunements in Usui's day. He used a procedure known as empowerment and it is so much less cumbersome than what is in use today. However, if we wish to introduce some to Reiki in the west, then attunements must happen or else it could be argued that it isn't Reiki. Hmm, sounds like a bit balderdash to me.

Then of course we have all the other therapies and ideology that have sprung up since it came over to the West. Now, before someone hectors me for denigrating any of these, let it be said that I am certainly not doing that. I urge anyone here to give whatever healing modality calls out to them be it Yoda Sound healing to Crash diet reiki. (I have no idea if such things exists but it does sound like fun and it is May the Fourth after all :) ) I'm a firm believer in variety is certainly desirable but I do sigh when I see so many odd little routines introduced into these practices. Some can contain a veritable tome of does and don'ts and you think to yourself, guys, can't we just do the healing?

I shall leave it there with you. Do you feel that these guidelines, forms and so forth are necessary or do they just get in the way? I'm inclined to go with the latter option but of course respect those who may feel differently. What matters though is the intent to heal with a pure heart of unconditional love. Now that is a noble aim for us all to aim for I think.
