Alternative point of view

Greetings all and first up a huge thank you to Anna, Louise, Jo, Shilpa, Roni, Dawn K on Facebook and Mary on Linked In. It's much appreciated that you take the time to read and comment upon my words.

The conflict continues to rumble on and now we have the realm of propaganda beginning to spin its tales of fiction and fact. Even when the facts are unequivocal about what is truly going on, we still have those subverting the truth to make themselves the guilty party.

All the while this gets reported back to their relevant countries as an undeniable truth. For many of us in the West we may struggle to comprehend how those in Russia can absorb the lies that are clearly in evidence. However, they see the world completely different to what we perceive. Many remember the Soviet Union and the glory of Mother Russia and how strong they used to be and the sudden downfall to subjugation to the West.

To many, the West will be seen as a colonial power who wishes to propagate their beliefs and views upon them. The populace view Russia as a superpower and if the West decides to take umbrage against them trying to liberate Ukraine then that's their problem. They will see the media reporting their alternate reality and believe what they see. They see Putin liberating Ukraine and demonstrating his strength as his removes the aggressors and begins the process of restoring Russia back to its former strength and glory.

It may be disturbing to see such a belief set but it's my view that this is how they see us. Clearly the situation is very complex and deep but there is no doubt in my mind that to change the viewpoint of a Russia who sees itself cornered will take a long time, especially when the current incumbents are showing no opportunity for compromise to their aims. This ghastly situation threatens to continue for some time to come.

In the meantime there will be worse days ahead but we all send those thoughts of an end to this madness for even if Putin should win, what will he win but a barren graveyard of his own soldiers, enemy soldiers and civilians. All this for the price of ego and base aggression. Time for this to end.

In the hearts of men

lies great cruelty or good

Take the higher path.
