Greetings all and I hope you are enjoying a splendid day. First things first though let's just say a huge thank you to Anna, Shilpa, Sarah, and Marion for your latest round of thoughts, likes, loves, shares and taking the time to read. Much love to each and every one of you.
Last night I had the pleasure of running my own little writers' group and we got some lovely work done. I knocked up a little short story that I quite liked too and the ending worked which is always a bit of a challenge. Anyway, what to write about today and I thought a glass, a microphone and a watch. Hardly CS Lewis inspiration but I'm going to attempt to concoct a story in the text below in about ooh twenty minutes. Here goes nothing and I have absolutely no clue where the following paragraphs are heading.

Helen checked her watch for the umpteenth time in the last hour. They were due back in the office and still they were out there procrastinating about some tomfoolery they partook in the night before.
"Will Martin, Samuel and Maxine please come to the office immediately," she barked into the microphone and tapped the side of her glass in impatience.
The thrill of power resonated within her for a moment. The sound of her own voice reverberating through the realm of Galaxy Telesales often annoyed her. She wished her Norfolk accent could drop an octave or two rather than resemble the squawk of a parrot drinking a cocktail of sand and whisky.
The tell tale signs of slow footsteps plodded along the corridor. Helen straightened her desk, pulled herself to full height in her chair and cleared her throat. A quick rap on the door heralded the trio's arrival.
"Enter," she said.
Maxine led the way along with Martin and Sam in tow. Maxine always leading her band of sycophants to some foolish endeavour.
"Thank you for coming, do take a seat."
Maxine flounced into the chair with a sigh whilst the others whispered into theirs.
"I understand you were up until quite late last night."
"I wasn't aware we were under curfew," said Maxine.
Always she challenged authority. Helen caught her anger and offered her best snake stare.
"No of course not but you are representing our company and your department. It does not behoove you to get into a drunken slanging match with Purchasing and is not conducive to be at your best the day after does it?"
Martin and Sam kept silent like they always did. Maxine rolled her eyes and feigned complete disinterest.
"Well if Sharon Keys calls me a dirty slut I'm not going to just sit back and take it am I? I take it you've had a word with her about her behaviour. We was all having a good time weren't we boys until she poked her nose in."
The boys offered their approval of their mini bosses words. Helen wondered where the wires to her puppets were.
"I've already spoken to her, thank you. Apparently, she caught you having an affair with her boyfriend. Frankly, whatever you get up to outside is not my concern but when it affects morale, productivity and company policy I will resolve any problems. I take it I'm making myself clear here."
"Crystal."
"Well young lady, as of now this nonsense stops. If you look at your contract you will see quite clearly that it states that during company functions you will conduct yourself accordingly and treat these events as being on company premises. Now, whilst I appreciate that of course a drink or two is expected, wanton aggression and drunkenness is not to be permitted."
Maxine shook her head.
"It's Christmas for goodness sake. And it was hardly an affair, we had a bit of fun a couple of months ago. It was nothing."
"Christmas or not, from this day forward you will be expected to take your role more seriously."
"Anything else?"
Maxine aimed her gaze to the back of the room.
"Look over there, what do you see?"
"Dunno, looks like some plastic thing."
"It's called a breathalyser. Now I could be a complete nightmare and insist you all take one and I shudder to think what the result will be. However, consider this your one and only warning. From now on anyone suspected of drinking will be escorted here and take the breathalyser. Any infraction will lead to immediate suspension and almost certain dismissal. Is that crystal clear for you all?"
Helen treasured this golden moment. For the first time ever Maxine lowered her eyes and whimpered a yes. At last, she got the better of her constant pain.
And there we are. Hardly the best story in the world and not much mileage in it but just shows you how three simple objects can lead you into a whole different world. On that note, I shall bid you adieu and remember keep reading
